| In the business of easing fear
MONTEAGLE, Tenn. -- Remagen Safe Rooms engineer Jim Waller said his business always has been driven by people's worst nightmares. But he said today's worries about natural disaster and terrorism seem more real than those in the years of the Cold War and fallout shelters. Mr. Waller said his company, started in 1996, produces shelters to protect people from all that Mother Nature and fellow humans can hurl at them. Structures built as safe havens have evolved over the years as peoples' fears changed, Mr. Waller said. .

More loans means more debt collection
The debt collection industry is growing, and experts agree that this trend will hold as long as retail banking grows. "One opportunity, for instance, is that banks will start outsourcing mortgages, aside from consumer loans", said Kovacs. The market still has room to develop compared to Eastern Europe, and the development will continue through retail loans. Bank loans are one of the most important engines for our business, and "we like quality loans with high standards, from banks. You can see the quality of a loan from a bank or a retail store, the difference being that the bank investigates before loaning". At Coface Romania, the debt collection department is 60% of the turnover, which will go over 3.5 million Euro, and next year this will double, said Constantin Coman, debt collection and debt manager: "Coface registers annual growth of over 70% turnover, and the estimates for the future are very optimistic, especially since we now have a new service, commercial loan insurance", said Coman.
Risky crackers still rampant
DESPITE the intensified campaign to regulate the manufacture of firecrackers in barangay Babag, Lapu-Lapu City, many residents still risk their lives by secretly making firecrackers inside their homes, a consultant of the Lapu-Lapu City government on firecrackers yesterday said. Of the 6,000 residents in barangay Babag, 80 percent are engaged in the manufacture of firecrackers. Only three are licensed, William Pongasi told Cebu Daily News. Pongasi, who owns JT Fireworks, said that majority of the residents in the barangay operate without licenses and permits. Many also work inside their houses or in places which are not suitable, posing risks to public safety, Pongasi added. We, who are licensed, are not bothered by the competition.
Websites for cell phones
Brett Dewey's company thrives on spur-of-the-moment purchases. His North Hollywood, Calif., web business, WickedCoolStuff, collects $1 million a year for nostalgic merchandise such as Captain Picard action figures, Underdog lunch boxes, and toys based on Monty Python movies. His customers, mainly men in their late 20s, are more tech savvy than most online shoppers, but they aren't chained to their computers. Even Star Trek fans venture outdoors. So when Dewey heard about a new kind of website tailored to conduct e-commerce over cellphones, he jumped at the chance to make himself accessible to clients during virtually all their waking hours. "If someone sees an advertisement, he may not remember it by the time he gets back to his computer," he says. "But his phone is always on hand for an impulse buy." If the first wave of online business was all about getting a dot-com, the next may be about adding a dot-mobi.
Salmond 'used Bute House to entertain backers at taxpayers' expense'
ALEX Salmond, the First Minister, was yesterday accused of using his official residence to entertain SNP backers at the taxpayers' expense. The guest-list for a dinner honouring Sir Sean Connery at Bute House in Edinburgh has been published for the first time. It was confirmed several Nationalist business leaders were there. Senior Labour MSP George Foulkes branded it "dosh for dinners" and called for guests to refund the cost of the £100-a-head banquet. Sir Sean and his wife Micheline were joined by SNP supporters Sir George Mathewson, Sir Tom Farmer, Brian Souter and Crawford Beveridge along with their wives, in June. .
Every School Every Thursday -- Des Moines West
There is no school on Friday due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Classes will resume on Monday. Des Moines West - Elementaries Edmunds Nothing submitted. Greenwood Professional storyteller Maureen Korte visited the fourth-graders and told stories. She makes her living traveling around the country telling stories. The children loved her many fun and animated stories about fall! Kindergarten students in Lissa Iles and Carrie Motter's classes read the book "The Little Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie." The classes crafted an "old lady" puppet and placed food items into her tummy. The children used phonetic writing to label the food items. Students practiced retelling the story independently, with a partner, and then took the puppet home to retell the story again.
