| Naming rights and wrongs
WHAT'S in a name? Having the wrong one for your business can leave customers confused or uninterested and can ultimately spell death for a company. BRIDGETTE Engeler-Newbury is the sort of person you want to avoid in a game of scrabble. She is a self-confessed word nerd, fluent in Latin, ancient Greek and Esperanto, and a scholar of linguistics and Shakespeare. In fact, such is her love affair with letters that she created a business to fit perfectly around her passion. Now the Melbourne-based consultant, and a burgeoning number of brand name experts, are in hot demand around Australia, as business owners begin to understand the benefits a great name can bring. Ms Engeler-Newbury believes some of the best ideas, concepts and models for business are being crushed under the heavy weight of a bad brand name.

Small Business Loans OK'd for Farmers
The U.S. Small Business Administration said Friday that federal disaster loans will be made available to some farmers in four northern Indiana counties whose crops were damaged by a series of cold snaps last spring. Farmers in Elkhart, LaPorte, St. Joseph and Steuben counties can apply for the low-interest loans if they sustained losses from several frosts and freezes that occurred between April 4 and June 13, the SBA said in a news release. The counties are adjacent to counties in Michigan where spring frosts and freezes devastated young buds on grape vines, said Frank Skaggs, director of the SBA Field Operations Center East. "These counties are eligible because they are contiguous to one or more primary counties in the State of Michigan. The Small Business Administration recognizes that disasters do not usually stop at the county or state lines," Skaggs said in the release.
